Our Background

Formed in 2014, the GMNG’s original benefactors, emphasized that Research is critical to the success of the 7 Honeycombs and established the GMNG Innovation Fund in order to attract the best researchers in the world to develop innovation solutions for rural, underserved, and vulnerable populations. Over the years, GMNG has established a DAO-like structure with headquarters now located in New Jersey.

At GMNG's Annual “Digital White Coat” Ceremonies, all GMNG Fellows are required to recite the from GMNG’s own corporate charter which was inspired by the famous words of John Phillips:

“Goodness without knowledge is weak and feeble, yet knowledge without goodness is dangerous,” and that both united form the noblest character, and lay the surest foundation of usefulness to mankind."

- John Phillips

In addition to the Hippocratic Oath, GMNG Fellows incorporate their own goal of making an impact with the understanding that “goodness without [medical] knowledge is weak and feeble, yet [medical] knowledge without goodness is dangerous…” Similar to the Aspen Institute, GMNG Fellows are well positioned to make large scale social impact during their fellowship year and have access to GMNG mentors/coaches throughout the year.

Moreover, similar in spirit to the sizable donation given by John Phillips in 1781 to form Phillips Exeter Academy, GMNG’s initial benefactors created a unique fund that has attracted researchers and subject matter experts “from every quarter,” and kept GMNG open to people of all backgrounds and has provided the diversity bonus needed in the world of digital health. The innovation fund uses the latest in tokenomics to promote an environment similar to PEA’s motto: non-sibi (Latin: not for self).

Every year, GMNG’s Research and Innovation Fellowship Programs applicants are are judged based on the same criteria mentioned by John Philips above: Knowledge, Goodness, and Usefulness to Mankind. Unlike traditional health care settings that typically focuses on 7 milestones (Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Professionalsim, Systems-based Practice, Practice-based Learning and Improvement, as well as Interpersonal and Communication Skill), GMNG adds additional metrics to their quarterly evaluations such as: Empathy, Ethical Discernment, Compassionate Care, and Peacemaking.

Who:

Qualified candidates who can commit atleast 3 months of dedicated research time with GMNG, should consider applying to this research and innovation program. Ideal candidates have graduated from a graduate school or medical school, however we are open to college students as well as high school graduates that want to spend their “slide year” with GMNG. Sample GMNG Research and Innovation Fellow Testimonials from Drs. Maria Khurshid (mk646), Princy Gupta (pg91), Abdul (Mateen) Chaudhry, and Laura Ortero (lo732).

Why:

We have access to thought leaders and subject matter experts in the clinical, scientific and technological fields across our 7 honeycombs that provide us with the depth, focus and vision to determine the most brilliant ideas put forth by the brightest minds, and we then use our prowess in translational methodologies to bring them to life through our innovative GMNG Research and Innovation Labs at https://greenmedicalonline.slack.com/signup.

You will get to collaborate with experts at top academic institutions in order to gain a solid scientific foundation for our future work. Our past and ongoing projects have spanned across the spectrum of primary care, academic research, ancillary care and healthcare management. Research fellows can set up 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, or 12 month research programs with GMNG.

We are committed to establishing a rigorous scientific criterion for our clinical and technological work. We strive to meet the highest academic and industry standards to ensure success for our team and its collaborators.

WEBSITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

We are focused on developing the latest advancements in healthcare and technology that have the potential to improve patients’ lives and how we practice medicine. Through funding provided by the generosity of GMNG’s start-up family, the GMNG Innovation Fund has produced countless (cloud-based) research and innovation labs that have helped many GMNG startups maintain a competitive advantage over other digital health/telemedicine competitors. We have unique Bio-Pyscho-Social approach to entrepreneruship through our patnership with Lifetime-Work.

  • Not only do our companies and subject matter experts have the “blueprints” for tech-enabled clinical service models, but GMNG requires each company in the incubator program to share at least 2.5% of their annual profits to the GMNG Innovation Fund. As a result, the GMNG Innovation Fund strategically invests the majority of its fund on “human capital” projects like the GMNG Research Fellowship Program and enabling the “collaboration - innovation - heal” model to thrive.

  • Medicine is transforming, and technology has affected every aspect of basic science research, translational processes and clinical practice. We capitalize our resources and bandwidth diligently to focus on the following research areas based on feedback from the hundreds of health care entrepreneurs that played a role in developing GMNG’s 7 honeycombs vision.

  • Currently there are 30+ labs that are focused solving problems with social impact through GMNG startups or SME’s. The labs are by invitation-only, and acceptance into labs are based on their GMNG Score which combines LinkedIn Data and GMNG Data on each member.

  • All of our research projects are able to be scaled in a quick manner due to established written agreements GMNG set up with the founding companies that GMNG helped “incubate” since 2014.

  • Multiple startups have evolved from our collaborate + innovate model of care to create the “honey” to heal. Our GMNG Algorithm is an innovative collection of data that we feel is unique to the digital health and entrepreneurship space.
